Meal Delivery During a Pandemic

The 2019-nCoV (coronavirus) is on many people's mind currently and that is no different at Seattle Sutton's Healthy Eating. We are 100% committed to continuing our mission of providing safe, healthy foods to all our customers and enforcing our long-standing strict sanitation policies.

Meal Delivery Reduces Exposure

When comparing Seattle Sutton’s meal replacement program to purchasing food from a grocery store or restaurant there are some very important points to consider. All of our incoming food products are sourced from FDA inspected facilities and are not touched in our facility until we cook or package it. We prepare thousands of meals at a time under the same conditions which makes it very easy for us to enforce the strictest sanitation possible in creating a consumable product. All of our employees are provided clean scrubs every day and are required to wear hairnets, beard guards, and gloves when they are exposed to food preparation areas. In addition, Seattle Sutton employees are all required to have a food handler’s certification and are continually provided education on proper handwashing and sanitation. Following the spread of the coronavirus we have also added new employee policies including making it easier for employees to receive paid time off if they have been exposed to COVID-19 or if they are not feeling well.

In contrast, when purchasing food from a grocery store or restaurant you are exposing yourself to the many people that frequent those locations. Restaurants are often pushed to produce food items quickly making it difficult to enforce firm sanitation measures. Many restaurant employees also live paycheck to paycheck making it hard for them to take necessary time off work. Many of the difficulties that are in the restaurant industry extend to the grocery store. At the grocery store you have the added complication of thousands of customers visiting every day, many of which could have been exposed to the virus and unaware they may be spreading an infectious disease.

Food Safety

Throughout the history of mankind food has never been 100% safe. But when you look at the major three ways Americans obtain food (home meal replacement, restaurants, or grocery stores), home meal replacement programs are by far the safest method. We at Seattle Sutton’s Healthy Eating are doing everything we can to ensure that our product is safe. We fully understand that many of our customers are in the susceptible segment of the population. Additionally, according to both the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and World Health Organization, coronaviruses are spread from person-to-person and there is currently no evidence to support transmission of COVID-19 associated with food.

Boost Your Immune System

Providing your body with proper nutrition, adequate sleep, and regular exercise can help support your immune system during this outbreak. There is evidence that nutritional deficiencies can weaken our immune system and make us more vulnerable to infections. The inclusion of fresh fruits and vegetables, healthy probiotics, and a variety of antioxidants on all of our meal plans may help give your immune system an extra boost. We are happy to provide you with a convenient, safe, and healthful option that you can feel good about when you have other things to worry about.

Seattle Sutton’s Healthy Eating will stay in close touch with local health departments and the Center for Disease Control for any additional measures recommended during this public health emergency. We encourage all of our customers and employees to take general precautions such as washing hands frequently, covering your cough, avoiding large crowds, cleaning surfaces often, and staying home if you are not feeling well. We are all in this together, and as Americans will get through this.
